About this "expansion" instead of "campaign" switch
Some people consider GW:EN, an expansion, as less than a full "stand alone campaign". I would like to point out that this is not quite as simple. The expansion is providing the same amount of content, just allocated in a different way.
To really understand, imagine Nightfall just came out. Unless you start all over again in Nightfall, you will miss out all the low level content of Istan isle. This means that Anet had to create a whole 20% of the game specially for new characters, but that content was worthless to all who did not go for a new character, which is probably a majority of the long term players.
An expansion does not mean that the low level content is skipped. It simply means that a corresponding amount of material is adapted to max level instead of being low level adapted.
Thank you for your attention.

I'm so happily surprised that this wasn't yet another complaining thread. ^_^
Still, there's one tiny detail that makes something an "expansion" instead of "stand-alone"... You do have to own one of the other games to play it.
I'm really looking forward to it, regardless of what it's called!

GW:En has no new professions. That takes away a good amount of the content that a Campaign would have.

Why do people feel the need to argue about content on forums? If you can't justify paying for it in terms of content added, just don't buy it.

New classes, by themselves, are not real content. They're just another vessel to approach the content with.
That being said, I'm not sad that there are no new professions and I'm glad that there is a mass of high level content that is being centered around what we already have, rather than an attempt by ANET to create more new classes, more "newbie" areas, and a totally new balance of the game due to more game mechanics.
I think EoTN is going to be well worth the money spent, mainly because most games are undercut by the amount of low-level content in them. It's like prime rib...the older games had rings of fat around them before you get to the meat. EoTN is like somebody cut all the fat off and is JUST handing you a plate of tasty foods.

in order to have a new class youd have to make a new character, and for that youd have to have low level content.
this is mostly the fault of how the game is designd, most mmos let you make one character and you can select what ever class you want after that.
most people ratehr sit and complain rather then understand that GW2 is going to fix and implement alot of things that can't be done with the current game

see....now this is where the thread should have ended...
Rhedd was right...this wasn't a complaining thread...key word "wasn't"...people posting turned it into one.
yeah the thing that makes the expansion an expansion is that it is an expansion of existing content ("on top of" existing content...and thus for high level players)...and that it requires you to own a previous campaign to play it.
as for the actual content...no one can make a statement (of fact) on the amount of content or size of the world until the expansion is actually released.
IMO it looks like the size of the new world will be similar to the campaigns released so far. At least as big as Factions when you include the dungeons...I would bet it'll be more like Nightfall.
